Antalya City Walls
The
Hadrian Arch, with its impressive clock tower, are still standing. They are at the outer parts of the old city walls. They are dated back to the Hellenistic period.

Antalya adrianus Gate
This arched decorated gate, was build in the 2nd century b.c, by the Romans in honor of the governor Adreanus.

Antalya Kaleici
This is the Antalya city's core. It contains a variety of cultures from many periods of the city. The city was restored in a way that give us glimpse of the past. This is also a tourist attraction area. This area has many restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, and entertainment facilities. Kaleici had kept its Turkish architecture characteristics. The marina has been completely restored, and it is a good place to go out to, day and night time. These restorations, got the “Golden Apple” prize, that is the equivalent for the “Oscar”.

Antalya Kesik Minaret
In the past times this place was function as a Byzantine church. After the Muslim conquest, this place was changed is destiny into a mosque. It is still possible to see some of it's Christian characteristics.

Antalya Yivli Minaret
This “floating” minaret, was build be the Selçuks, in the 13th century. It is decorated with dark blue and torques tails, a thing that gives the place grace and beauty. Throughout the years, this minaret, became one of the most fames Antalya's symbol.

Antalya Underwater diving Activities

Antalya Gok Cavern
This
fresh water cave, in Finike, attracts many divers. Since stalactites was found in the cave, it's indicates that in the past, it used to be above sea level. The 1995 dives that took place in the cave, point that this was the deepest cave dive ever done.

Antalya Kas, Plain Remnants
One of the diving centers in Antalya, was discovered a crashed three propellers of an Italian war plain, next to a coral reef, by Meis island. You can see the engine at depts. of 57m and the rest of the parts, you can see as well at depts. of 70m. if you dive in this area, know that there are still some bombs around!!!

The Three Islands
This area is located about 45 km from Kemer's marina and after Tekirova. It is one of the most popular diving sites, thanks to the wealth of the under water sea life. One of the main reason that made this place so popular is, the verity of diving sites, suitable for different kinds of divers. A little after the islands, there is a forbidden diving area, between Finike, Akcaoru, Inceburun and Kes.

The Uluburun Ship wrick
This early bronze age ship, was discovered by
sponge divers, in 1982. it is 60 m' from Uluburun coast and about 8.5 km south east of Kos.  The ship's length was 15m and it is made of maple tree wood. The ship's bow was found at depts. of 44m and the rest of the ship was found at a distance of 52m away.

Its cargo was sunken into depts. of 61m. as a whole, the ship's cargo was of raw materials and some as well as other goods such as colored glass, that where brought to the surface. By the tablets that where found, the cargo was taken to Mekku and Ehlipakku, when the cargo was returned  from Israel and Syria. These
glass are not just the oldest ones, but also the best preserved ever. In the other archeological discoverers there also found maple tree and some kind of black wood that came from Africa. The Egyptians called this tree Akaju. Also among other materials that where found there is: ivory tusks, over 2 dozen hippopotamus teeth, a type of sea snail, a turtle's armor that was used for musical instruments, handles and ostrich eggs. Some items where found whole. Items such as oil lamps, some art artifacts, silver bracelets, golden pendants, and more.

A very unique item was found on the boat, it was a staff that was used for religious peruses. There is just other one in Rome.  The many items that where found on the ship, are now on display in the Turkey underwater archeological museum.

The Paris Ship Wreck
This cargo ship was found at a depth of 25 m', at about 1.5 km from Kemer's marina. It was drown  in the second world war, and never was researched, thus, It is assumed that the ship was built in 1896. it has 3 decks and to warehouses. The middle part of the upper warehouse, was made from wood, wood that had been damaged. Lack of weapons, indicates that it was a travel ship. The ammunition that was found, was fused together. Tiles are placed in the middle part of the ship' when next to the boiler,  The
Wreck attracts many divers from all over the world.

The France Ship
In 1942, the allies started an unlimited operation, in order to defeat Romal's Nazis army. Though Turkey was neutral, its sympathy was in fever of the allies. The French navel army, that aided the Nazi army, was under danger from the Turkish fleet. In the fall, a French escort ship was destroyed next Antalya shore. The chase went all the way around the Adresim bay. Bombing of the ship continued in the bay, until its ammo exploded. Local fishermen save as many crew members as possible. The ship's real name was “San Didier”. It lies about 100m from Antalya yachts harbor. The deck is at depth of 18-34m, at an angel of about 35 degrees, to the ships bow. Its length is about 70m. between 1946-1974, mainly of the equipment and human remains, where brought to the surface. In order to dive here, you must get permission from the sea police and the municipality of Antalya.

Remember, this bay is a n active place, with many ships and boats going in and out of it. Pay attention when you dive!!!

Travertine
In the area between Konyalti and Lara beaches, there are options to diving from a boat as well as from shore, at several places. The
travertine can step down to depths anywhere from 14-25m. then, the give way to sand. Until 20m is much to see. After that, it looks like “walking” in the desert full with garbage, old tires, plastic bottles and rusty cans. One of the most comfortable access points is, next to Konyalti. In this area the boulders go about 25m underwater.

Antalya Dove Island
This island are located in
west of Antalya, is another diving point. Due to its unique structure and size, it is inhabitable. The southern beach is shallow - around 8m and mostly sandy. The north-east have a rocky shore, that goes to depth of 22m. There is a cave on this side, that used by divers as a meeting point. Though the north-east wind, coming from the west, does not cause high waves, it can cause upper currents.

Antalya Perge
Perge are located around 18km from east Antalya, between Aksu and Duden falls. You can get there along the Alanya-Antalya road. You turn right to Aksu, and go for 2 km. this place situated  by the shore. It was first discovered in 1200 b.c. In 233 b.c the city came to an agreement with Alexander “The Great”, just like the city of Side. That is why the 2 cities where not destroyed. The city thrived through the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine times.

There is a 15,000 sits stadium, that was build in the 2nd century. It is one of two preserved stadiums in
Anatolia (The 2nd is the Aphrodite stadium). There are 30 room that where used as shops, so it is thought. Many statues and many other artifacts that where found here, are now on display in the Antalya museum. It's recommended to see also the Hellenistic gate, the Agora, the Nymphum, the streets, the Sarcophgus, the Basilica as well as the Acropolis.

Antalya B-24 Plane
Wreck
In August 1944, a B-24 named "Hadley's Harem", was intercepted on its way back from a bombing in Romania, on its way back to its base in Cyprus. The survivors where rescued by the Cengel villagers. 3 of the survivors are still alive.

There was an attempt in in 1995 to bring to plane up the surface. So far, the cockpit was rescued and it is now on display in a museum in Istanbul. The rest of the plane is at distance of 22m from Dilkum and a distance of 22 km from
Manavgat up to Alanya. If you are planning to dive in this area, you need a permission license for diving there.
