There are several ways to move
around Bodrum. Some choose to move in the city on foot, walking on main
street and along the boardwalk, the beach and so on. There are those that
choose bicycle or motorcycle, as a mean of transportation. Others travel
in the taxi, or Dolmuş. A Dolmuş is somewhat like a mini bus,
that commutes around town. And there is those that choose to
rental cars in Bodrum . If you
have time on your hands, talk a walk in town. Look at the windows, stop in
different restaurants, visit museums, and just enjoy the experience of the
walking in the city.
Road Safety
In Bodrum, it seams that stop lights and the crosswalks, are just
recommendation. When you cross the street, do not expect the drivers to
stop, in order to let you cross to the other side! Therefore, it is
recommended to pay attention, especially if you are with little children!
Most of the urban roads are in good condition. But out of the city and in
the rural areas around to Bodrum, not all the roads are paved. These
unpaved roads, many times have livestock on them. That is why you need to
practice safety when driving in these places. You should really drive
slowly and carefully.
When driving in the city, know that the top speed is 50 k”ph, and out of
the city 90 k”ph. If there is no speed limitation sign, then the legal
speed limit is 40 k”ph in the city and the villages. According to the
Turkish law, you must use a safety belt in the front and backseat. After
this has been said and done, know that most of the Turks, do not use
safety belts. When driving, it is advised to always carry your passport,
driving licenses, and the car's rental contract.

signs, and the driving is on the right side.

An other way of commuting is with a Dolmuş. In order to stop a Dolmuş, you
wave you hand. You can pay before you get of the Dolmuş. To get of it,
just say “Dur Lutfen” (Please stop). It is better to pay with Turkish
lira.
Bodrum Car and Motorcycles rental
In Bodrum there are local and international car rental companies. In order
to rent a motorized vehicle, you need to have your international driving
licenses. Before renting a motorized vehicle, ask to see the insurance for
the vehicle you are going to rent. Ask what, and if, there are any other
payments after you return the car. As a rule, low cost not necessarily a
sign that the place is illegal, but it is worthwhile compare costs.
Renting a vehicle through the hotel, cost more than renting in town.
It is possible to fuel the vehicle normal fuel, and also with gas in all
stations. Fuel cost is roughly 2$ per liter of fuel, and about 1$ for gas
tank.
Most gas stations, offer free car wash service. Out of the city it is
