If you are looking for calm and relaxing life, than the bay and village of Bozburun, is what you need. The area has many beautiful caves' waiting in all there glory. One of the things that makes the village unique is, the wooden Gulet boats. The village has a marina, that is used by yacht's people, from all over the world. It is possible to rent a yacht for the day, or for few days, or to get here with your own yacht. In this area there are few ship wrecks, that provide a breading place a wide marital life, such as corals, octopuses and more. It is also a very favorable place for divers, that are coming here for dives.

There are 2 main ways to get to Bozburun. One is by land, and the second is by sea. If you are going from Marmaris to Bozburun, you should take a camera along with you. There road to Bozburun is beautiful and breath taking. If you want the easier way, then take the Marmaris- Datça road. You start by climbing the hills around Marmaris. If you stop in one of the “Vista” points, you will be able to see Marmaris and the bay, spread underneath you. Then you go to Hisaronu – Orhaniye junction, where you turn left. In some places, the road curves around the bay and in some places, it is possible to see pine trees growing on the sea. You go past Turgut village, past the waterfall of Şelale. If you have the time, stopping there for a short walk. If you want lunch, then go to “Ismail's” place, where you can indulge yourself with a tasty fish. After Şelale, you will get to Turgut junction. Turning right, will lead you to Bozburun. After a minute or so, you will get to an opening. Once you get there, you can see the breath taking view of the Aegean sea straight ahead, and to your left, the village of Selimiye.

Selimiye
This is a small village that the main sources of income are fishing and wooden boat building. Though tourists come to Selimiye, it still has its authenticity and old charm, calmness, peace and quit. This is you chance to have some fun. Stop, walk around the village houses, checkout the restaurants, with the Turkish cocking. Take a walk on the shore, look at the wooden boats, in different building stages, or just sit and relax. The place has some pensions, a motel or two, small apart hotels and few shops. Whilst in the village, you can take a cruise to the city of Datça and the Knidos ruins. Taking a walk in the village, will give you, not just a clew about village life, but also how Marmaris was in the late 70's early 80's. Selimiye area has the ruins of 3 ancient
castles. One of them, Hydas, is located on the village's highest hill. The second one, is Sarikaya hill, and the third one, is in Asarkale. In Kizilköy area, it is possible to see wall ruins from the Hellenistic time, and if you go through the ruins toward the sea for about 100m', you can see a theater, a lighthouse and a monastery.

On your way out of the village, turn right, if you want to go to Bozburun. Once you get to the village's hills, stop and look down below, at the village. Now you are ready to continue your journey. If you look around you (but keep your eyes on the road), you can tell the view had changed. From pine trees to rocky and with less plants. You can also tell that the road is less smooth and narrow. In many places the asphalt has been washed away. After about 15 minutes or so, you will see part of the lovely Bozburun bay. It is actually, part of Loryma peninsula. Down the road you will see the Bozburun houses. In Bozburun and Datça laws where passed, in order to protect the environment. Thus, the place has kept its authenticity.

If you are looking for calm and peaceful life style, this is a good place. You might want to take a walk around the house, swim in the sea, take a walk on the beach, where there are beautiful caves and ravines. Many tourists from all over the world come to Bozburun, to enjoy its beauty.

One of the unique things about Bozburun in comparison to other villages is, the specialization in wooden “Gulet” boats building. If you stroll along the shore and see the different stages in the boat building process. You might even get lucky, and witness a boat launching. If you go boat building watching, remember that you are in a construction zone! Please be careful!!!

It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Marmaris to Bozburun, by car. It is also possible to get there with one of the Dolmuş services. Just find out the time for the last Dolmuş to Marmaris, if you are not going to spend the night in Bozburun.

Another way to get to Bozburun is with a boat. You can either rent one, or bring your own (if you have). There is a marina that gives a marital services, to many sea people from all over the world. The Bozburun marina is not as big as the Marmaris marina. One of the favorable things visitors like to do while in Bozburun is, rent a yacht for few day, and tour the coastal area around Bozburun. If you come with your yacht, make sour you have all the necessary documents. Upon arriving to the marina, you have to registrar with the marina's authorities.

The bozburun's area, is rich with ship wrecks, that offers not just an excellent breading place for all sea creatures, but also a good diving place. At the sea bottom, it is possible to see many artifacts that have not been brought to the surface yet, sea creatures such as corals, sea sponges and much more. Do not collect sea sponges, if you do not have a special permit!!! It is forbidden!!!

The Bozburun Gulet Festival
Every year, between the 2nd - 4th of October, the international Gulet festival, takes place in Bozburun. The festival service's few purposes. Some come to Bozburun to see the Gulet building process, while others come here to sell/ buy yachts, race and just to “Hang Around”. The festival's date might varied, thus it is recommended to check the date before you go to Bozburun.
