These

If you take a cruise like that from Marmaris, Icmeler and Trunc, you get
to see
the many beautiful bays around Marmaris. You can also take a
longer gulet cruise, to the town of Dalyan, with it's lovely shore and carved
tombs, along side the ruins of Caunos. If you take a cruise from
Orhaniye, it will take you around some of the soothing bays of the Aegean
sea.

The village tour, usually takes half a day touring
around the hills that surround Marmaris. This tour enables you to see the
tradition and the way of living in a village.
Marmaris tours - Bayir
This is one of the villages
that is in a drive away distance from Marmaris. To get there, you take
the Icmeler road that goes up to the hills. You soon start going up a
scenically road Along the way, you can stop at one of the vista points, to
enjoy the breath taking view. Up you go until you get to Bayir. At the
center of the village, you'll see an old olive tree. This tree is
believed to be over 2000 years. The locales say that if you circle the
tree twice counter clock wise, you'll get younger by few years. Few meter
from the tree, you'll see fresh water coming out of a wall. This water
are drinkable. You might want to have a taste from the famous Pine Tree Honey
Cham Bali.
Most of the honey comes from pines, and it has a
special taste and aroma. On some of the roofs, it is possible to see empty
bottles stuck on them. These bottle show that at home live a virgin, ready
to get married. In center of the village, there is an ancient tree, that
according to a belief, and tests, it is over 2010 years. According to the
local beliefs and traditions, whom ever revolves around the tree thrice,
counter clock, loses few year from his/ her age. Several meters from the
tree, there is water running from the wall. This water cold and drinkable.
The cafe shop next to the tree, is an excellent point to rest and to
observe the spectacular valley and the scattered olive trees in the area.
You can also buy few types of honey, and also the special pine honey, that
the villagers harvest.
When you leave the village, going towards the village
of Turgut, you arrive to a square that seems like it is stuck in middle of
no where. Here you can go either straight to Selimiye, or to go right to
Turgut. Going straight, will take you to several villages. The big once
are Selimiye and Bozburun. The way to Selimiye goes along side a cliff on
one side, and the Aegean sea, on the other. Selimiye village is a
fishermen's village, at its core. This calm place is very different from
Marmaris. You can sit in a fish restaurant facing the beautiful golf. You
can see yachts building in the village, and many more traditional
activities around you. Leaving the village, turning right, will take you
to Bozburun village. This village a true fishermen's village, to its
fullest meaning. The place is calm and relaxed. The people are friendly
and courteous. The village is one of the centers for the world known Gulet
yachts. If you are up to it, you can visit the dock yards around and see
Gullets in different stages of assembly. It is also possible to visit
caves and frolic around, as well.
In contrast, if you choose turning right at the square,
you will arrive to the Şhelale.

Turgut
village
Out you go and back to the main road. Driving
for about 1 minute, you'll come
to a handcraft carpets factory, at the outskirts of
the village of Turgut.
You can take a free tour there, and get a short lecture and a feel of how
carpet are made. If you are up to buying on of the carpets, this can also
be done there. Haggling is part of the game. So don't be sheepish about
it. Going into the village, you get to see the villagers at there daily
work Usually, the men are playing
Shes- Besh and having a
drink, while the women do the work. Turgut, originally a
fishing village, is nestled underneath
the Ruins of Caria, from around the
Hellenistic era. It's a hike of about 400 meters to ruins.

Shelale
Driving
out on Bayir, south bound, you come to a circular junction. Turning right,
you'll see a quarry. Keep going for about 300 meters, on your right
you'll see a sign that'll point you to
Shelale.
After about 100 meters or so, you come to a parking area. This is a good
place to get out of your car, and change into a swim suit. Walking over a
bridge, you'll come to a set of water falls with few pools of water. Have
fun. On the way back, you might want to stop at one of the restaurant for
a fish meal. If you go into Ismail's place, not far from the road you
came with, you can go into the old water mill and see how it operates.

Orhaniye
Once
you go out of Turgut and up the hill, you'll see stretched underneath you,
the beautiful mind boggling bay of the village of Orhaniye. There you'll
see the
enclave that starches through part of the bay. You will also see the ruins
of yet another castle on a small land. This castle used to guard the bay
from invaders.
Marmaris Hisaronu Gulf and Village
After leaving
Orhaniye, you will see the gulf of Hisaronu. In middle of this gulf, are
ruins of antiquity bastion, on little hill. Trees of oleander fill the
way. Some of them, seem as if they touch the sea. It is said that the
mythological health goddess Hemithia, cured the sick here. Besides this,
you can see the gulf and the Marti marina.
Lastly you will arrive at the Çiftlik junction, where
turning left will take you to Datça and Knidos, or right turn to Marmaris.
Datça is a hub for thous visiting the remnants of the Roman city of the
Knidos. The Datça road, is pretty and it passes lengthwise amazing
beaches, with an eye capturing scenery. Just before getting to Marmaris,
it is worthwhile to stop at one of the observation points, to observer the
bay of Marmaris. You will be able to see the city spread under you, to its
fullest. Lastly, you will arrive by means of the way that descends from
the
mountain, to the city.
Marmaris Jeep safari
The jeeps tour, continues in general between 5 - 7
hours, and it provides a fun and pleasure. There is more then one track,
thus it is worthwhile to get the help of a professional guide, that knows
the area and can offer you the best the area has. The safari take place in
the mountains area, around Marmaris and Içmeler, in a group of jeeps.
In general the start of safari goes on paved and
unpaved roads. At the start of the journey, you will find yourself in ever
green trees area, even in the summer. The main reason is the amount of
rain all year long (it rains sometimes in the summer for hour or two,
every so often).
On the way, you will come across rivers, hills. The
water amount depends the season of year in which you are in the area,
though there will always be water in the river. If you look around you,
you can see many types of trees.
Continuation with your journey, you pass
at the backyard of a typical Turkish family. This house is part of the
first village you will pass. You are able to see an old rural typical
house, that served the couple that lives here. Next to it, there is
another house, where the family lives now days. This house is part of the
village Dermenyğne. It is recommended to bring a hat, bottle of water, sun
block cream, comfortable clothes, camera and of course, good mood.
Several words of warning and advise:
If you stop along the mountainous ness road, to look at the
scenery, photograph, or relive yourself, please keep your distance from
the slopes. Sometimes rock that seems stable, is loose and unstable.
If you chose to drive alone, please adapt a suitable
driving suitable for these areas.
After you jeep safari tour, it is recommended to go to
one of the Hamams in town, in order to relaxed from the tour.
